Hong Kong highly appreciates Vietnamese market

VGP - “Việt Nam - a fast growing market in ASEAN” is the latest report of Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC), which highly appreciates the development and potential of the Vietnamese market, considering it a good investment destination.

According to HKTDC, Việt Nam has a growing number of middle-class consumers who have greater demand for high-quality products and services.

The HKTDC survey shows that Hong Kong’s products, especially consumer goods are fairly familiar with Vietnamese customers, especially the middle class. The Council said Hong Kong firms should seize opportunities to foster trade and investment in Việt Nam.

The report says Việt Nam’s GDP growth of 5.3% in 2009 topped ASEAN, despite the global economic woes. In the first quarter of this year, the Vietnamese economy was still strong, and both the Government of Việt Nam and the International Monetary Fund are optimistic about economic prospects in the remaining quarters.

HKTDC also considers Việt Nam an alternative production base thanks to its relatively cheaper labor cost. Việt Nam’s large pool of young workers gives the country an advantage as a base for labor-intensive production.
