HN’s first metro route kick-started
The construction of the Ha Noi pilot light metro line, the section linking Nhon and the Ha Noi Railway station, was groundbroken this morning. With around US $1 billion of investment, the 12.5-kilometer route is the biggest public transportation project in Hà Nội.
Addressing the groundbreaking ceremony, PM Nguyen Tan Dung highlighted the significant role of the project for the capital’s robust and sustained development.
The Government chief requested the Municipal People’s Committee of Ha Noi to closely work with relevant agencies and contractors to implement the project on schedule and in line with the current laws on investment and construction.
Mr. Dung also urged local leaders to work with competent agencies to seek appropriate measures to conduct other public transportation projects in Ha Noi.
According to the Ha Noi Urban Railway Management Board, the line comprises an 8.5 km single track U-viaduct and a 4-km twin underground structure, running through 12 stations. It is expected to be operational by 2015./.
