Science, technology boosted for industrialization, modernization
Developing science and technology is top prioritized national policies, so science and technology should be further boosted to act as “a foundation and driving force for industrialization and modernization,” Deputy PM Nguyễn Sinh Hùng said on Sunday.

Deputy PM Nguyễn Sinh Hùng made the statement when attending the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Ministry of Science and Technology (MST).
He asked the ministry to perfect the national strategy on scientific and technological development soon.
Accordingly, it is necessary to intensify investment in scientific and technological development, train human resources, honor and give special treatment to talented scientists, perfect and develop the technological market, deepen scientific research, boost up economic restructuring through using scientific and technological advances, and further apply technology in all sectors to enhance competitiveness of products and services.
The Government leader also emphasized the need to expand international cooperation in science and technology, especially making use of scientific and technological products of foreign countries to directly serve the domestic production.
Over the past 50 years, the science and technology sector has made significant contributions to the national socioeconomic development. Especially, since 1986 the MST has proactively taken a direct part in mapping out Việt
In agriculture, the sector has played a key role in producing and multiplying crop varieties and animal breeds to increase productivity.

Besides, the sector has expanded cooperative ties with partners in over 70 countries and territories, and joined nearly 100 international and regional scientific and technological organizations.
