The Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) and the World Bank (WB) on August 18 held a meeting in Hanoi , to seek ways to develop scientific research in Vietnam , especially for the education sector.

Scientific research plays an important role for the educational sector, especially for universities, Deputy Prime Minister and MOET Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan said.

Vietnam wishes to consider solutions proposed by WB which could help boost the development of scientific research in the country, he said.

According to Dr. R.A Mashelkar, WB representative and India ’s top expert on educational innovation, it is necessary to build a legal system for the development of scientific research.

Funds that aim to invest in the development science, despite the fact that it a high-risk field, should be set up, he said, adding that the relationship between investors and inventors is also very important. The linkages between science and technology and education must be tightened as well, the WB representative noted.
The expert also shared his country’s experiences on the issue at the meeting./.
