Construction begins on VN-Japan University

A ground-breaking ceremony was held on December 20 for the Viet Nam-Japan University at the Viet Nam National University site in Hoa Lac High-tech Park in Ha Noi.


Speaking at the ground-breaking ceremony, Deputy PM Vu Duc Dam says the project is
a symbol of the friendship between Viet Nam and Japan 

The joint project is part of the joint statement adopted during State President Truong Tan Sang’s visit to Japan last March.

This is also part of  Viet Nam’s effort to raise the quality of tertiary education to meet the national development.

The university is estimated to cost US$365 million, including US$200 million from Japan’s official development assistance (ODA), US$100 million from Japanese enterprises and organizations, and US$65 million contributed by the Vietnamese side.

It plans to start enrolling students for master degree programs in 2016 even its construction is expected to be fully completed by 2020./.
