FDI registration fetches over US$ 1.4 billion

As of January 20, registered capital totalled over US$ 1.4 billion, representing a year-on-year growth of 6.6%, reported the General Statistics Office (GSO).

In the reviewed time, FDI disbursement was US$ 850 billion, up 6.3% against the same period last year.

The number of newly-registered projects was 175, worth US$ 1,244 million, up 37.8% in number and 23% in value. Meanwhile, 76 projects got additional capital with US$ 179 million.

Processing and manufacturing absorbed the biggest amount of capital with US$ 1,013 million, accounting for 71.2% of total registered capital. The real estate sector ranked second with US$ 297 million or 20.9%.  

In January, 26 cities and provinces licensed FDI projects, of which the southern province of Binh Duong was the most attractive destination with US$ 666 million (or 53.6% of total registered capital); followed by Bac Giang (US$ 159 million or 12.8%); Ba Ria-Vung Tau (US$ 108 million or 8.7%); HCMC (US$ 75 million or 6%); and Ha Noi (US$ 30 million or 2.4%).  

So far, Singapore was the largest FDI provider with US$ 416 million (making up 33.5% of total newly-registered capital); followed by the Republic of Korea with US$ 347 million (or 28%); China with US$ 310 million (US$ 24.9%); and Japan with US$ 56 million (4.6%)./.
