Viet Nam vows to foster strategic partnership with Japan

Ha Noi (VNA)The Vietnamese government will do its utmost to turn the relations between Viet Nam and Japan into a strategic partnership, for peace and development in the region and the world at large, said Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung.

 

The government leader made the affirmation while receiving visiting Japanese Deputy Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport Mochizuki Yoshio, in Ha Noi on May 3.

 

PM Dung spoke highly of the participation of the Japanese Deputy Minister in the first meeting of the Viet Nam-Japan Joint Coordination Committee on three large-scale infrastructure projects in Viet Nam , which are the North-South Highway , Railway Express and the Hoa Lac Hi-Tech Park.

 

The PM stressed the importance of these projects to Viet Nam ’s economic development. He said the Japanese government’ assistance to these projects would serve as a springboard in promoting the friendship and cooperative ties between the two countries.

 

PM Dung thanked the Japanese government for its assistance. He asked the Japanese government to focus on helping Viet Nam build the Ha Noi-Vinh section in the North-South Highway and the Ho Chi Minh City-Nha Trang section in the North-South Railway Express in the immediate future.

 

For his part, Deputy Minister Mochizuki said Japan hopes to seek stronger cooperation in seaport and transportation with Viet Nam.
