Nationwide campaign launched to promote skilled labor, higher productivity and better incomes

On June 7, at Thang Long Industrial Park in Hanoi, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor launched the nationwide emulation movement "Skilled Labor, High Productivity, Better Income" to celebrate the success of the 14th Congress of the Vietnam Trade Union.

Attending the Hanoi venue were Vo Thi Anh Xuan, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Vice President of Vietnam and First Vice Chairwoman of the Central Council for Emulation and Commendation; Nguyen Anh Tuan, Member of the Party Central Committee, Vice President of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, Secretary of the Party Committee and President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor and member of the Central Council for Emulation and Commendation; Nguyen Minh Triet, Alternate Member of the Party Central Committee and Permanent Secretary of the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union; along with representatives of businesses and more than 1,000 union members and workers.

The large-scale event was held simultaneously across the country through a combination of in-person and online participation at 51 locations, with the central venue was located at Thang Long Industrial Park in Hanoi, with four major satellite venues in Ho Chi Minh City, Danang, Cantho and the Vietnam Science and Technology Trade Union. Additional venues were organized across provinces, sectors and state-owned corporations.

To maximize the campaign's impact, the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor encouraged local units to organize activities directly at construction sites, industrial parks and manufacturing enterprises.

Delivering remarks at the launch ceremony, Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan emphasized that for the Vietnamese working class and the Vietnam Trade Union, patriotic emulation is not only a method of organizing movements but also a proud tradition and a driving force closely linked to the development of the country's working class.

Every innovation on a production line, every improvement in management processes and every effort to enhance skills and master new technologies reflect patriotism and national pride.

Looking back on the previous term, despite numerous challenges, trade unions at all levels continuously renewed their content and operating methods, focused on grassroots activities and provided practical support for union members and workers.

Many patriotic emulation movements were implemented effectively, including "Skilled Labor, Creative Labor," "Green, Clean, Beautiful and Safe Workplaces," "One Million Initiatives," and "Creative Labor Day."

These programs inspired innovation and creativity, resulting in more than 380,000 initiatives being applied in practice and generating benefits exceeding VND40 trillion ($1.52 billion). They contributed to higher labor productivity, improved business performance, job stability and the country's socioeconomic development.

These achievements demonstrate the intelligence, resilience, creativity, responsibility and significant contributions of the Vietnamese working class to national construction and defense.

On behalf of the Party and State leadership, Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan acknowledged and highly appreciated the important contributions of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, trade unions at all levels, the business community and workers nationwide.

The Vice President stated that Vietnam is entering a new era of development with significant opportunities while facing higher demands for growth quality, competitiveness and economic resilience.

Therefore, building a modern workforce equipped with knowledge, skills, industrial discipline and a strong aspiration to contribute is a strategic task. The "Skilled Labor, High Productivity, Better Income" movement launched today comes at a highly appropriate and meaningful time, helping to inspire creativity, self-reliance and responsibility among workers.

The movement also helps boost productivity, raise incomes, improve welfare and working conditions, thereby balancing the interests of the State, businesses and workers while contributing to the country's rapid and sustainable development.

The Vice President called on the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor and trade unions at all levels to continue fulfilling their role in representing, supporting and protecting the legitimate rights and interests of union members and workers.

Efforts to increase productivity must go hand in hand with creating sustainable jobs, stable incomes, improved welfare and better working conditions.

Government agencies and organizations should link emulation movements with the effective implementation of Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW, encouraging innovation and the application of science, technology and digital transformation in production and labor activities.

The Vice President also called for creating environments where workers can develop initiatives, improve techniques, master new technologies and increase productivity, quality and work efficiency.

Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan further emphasized the importance of identifying, nurturing, honoring and replicating outstanding examples among workers.

Authorities, sectors and trade unions should pay comprehensive attention to policies related to housing, cultural facilities, education, healthcare, occupational safety, social insurance, health insurance and welfare programs.

Special attention should be given to supporting disadvantaged workers and female employees to ensure that no worker is left behind in the country's development achievements.

For ministries, sectors and localities, improving national labor productivity should remain a central objective within development strategies.

The Vice President stressed the importance of improving institutions, removing bottlenecks and creating a favorable environment for innovation, digital transformation and the application of science and technology in business and production to improve workforce quality and make highly skilled human resources a competitive advantage for Vietnam.

The business community was encouraged to proactively modernize management practices and adopt digital technologies, artificial intelligence, big data, automation and advanced management models to increase productivity while reducing the physical burden on workers.

Businesses should simultaneously establish fair and transparent wage, bonus and welfare mechanisms linked to productivity, quality, innovation and job performance.

Each union member, worker, public employee and laborer should continue promoting the proud traditions of the Vietnamese working class, fostering ambition, responsibility, self-reliance and a modern work ethic.

"Emulation in the new era means not only working harder but also working more scientifically, creatively, safely, disciplinarily and efficiently. It requires lifelong learning, improved vocational and digital skills, adaptability, mastery of new technologies, proactive innovation, technical improvements, resource conservation and higher-quality products and services," the Vice President emphasized.

Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan expressed confidence that, building on the proud traditions of the Vietnamese working class and the Vietnam Trade Union, under the leadership of the Party and State, with the support of businesses and society, and the determination of millions of union members, workers and public employees, the "Skilled Labor, High Productivity, Better Income" movement for the 2026-2031 period will gain strong momentum, deliver tangible outcomes and contribute to building a modern, highly skilled working class and a strong, effective trade union system, while supporting the development of a prosperous, civilized and happy nation.

On this occasion, commendation activities were held at four major venues to honor outstanding organizations and individuals, including units that successfully organized Workers' Month 2026 activities; exemplary units in occupational safety and hygiene; outstanding safety officers; collectives recognized for studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, ethics and lifestyle; individuals recognized for studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, ethics and lifestyle; and exemplary core workers from northern and central Vietnam.

Earlier that morning, President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor Nguyen Anh Tuan and a delegation visited, encouraged and presented gifts to two families of workers facing particularly difficult circumstances who are living in the workers' housing complex at Thang Long Industrial Park in Hanoi.

Each family received VND5 million ($190) and a gift package from the program "Gifts from the 14th Congress of the Vietnam Trade Union."

On this occasion, Tuan also presented gifts from Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan to the two families, demonstrating the care and concern of Party and State leaders and the Trade Union organization for disadvantaged workers.

The delegation visited the family of Cao Van Tuan, a production worker at Nissei Electric Hanoi Co., Ltd., who currently rents an apartment in CT1A Building of the Thang Long Industrial Park workers' housing complex and the family of Le Thi Mai Loan, a worker at Canon Vietnam Co., Ltd., who currently rents an apartment in CT1B Building. Loan is originally from Dan Hoa Commune, Hanoi.
