Viet Nam – Korea: Speeding up the progress of Viet Nam – Korea Institute for Science and Technology (V–KIST)
In the morning of April 05, 2016, in Ha Noi Minister of Science and Technology (MOST) had a meeting with the Delegation of Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) led by Mr. Choi Sung Ho, KOICA’s Deputy Director and KIST’s representative within the framework of the working visit in Viet Nam.

In the meeting, Minister Nguyễn Quân highly appreciated Korea’s support for Viet Nam over the past time, especially in the S&T field. The Minister said that KIST has played important roles in assisting Korea’s S&T to achieve current successful development and hoped V - KIST would soon put into operation in Viet Nam.
According to the Minister, Viet Nam has and is having good preparation for V – KIST establishment as human resources, site clearance and formulation of regulations and rules … However, a special mechanism for V – KIST is still a difficulty.
Together with more than 50-year experience in management and operation of KIST, Minister Nguyễn Quân proposed Korea to continue supporting Viet Nam with some issues as coordinating and introducing the personnel for the post of V- KIST’s Director; providing financial support in the first 5 years of V – KIST. The establishment of V - KIST can be considered as the symbol of Viet Nam – Korea cooperation in the S&T field.
In the meeting, Mr. Choi Sung Ho hoped to continue promoting cooperation between the two countries and considered the V – KIST as the symbol of S&T cooperation between the two countries. At the same time, he committed to make efforts together with KOICA in Viet Nam to speed up the progress of V – KIST project to be soon put into operation for the coming time.
