12:50 - 29/08/2011

Prime Minister Nguyễn Tấn Dũng has agreed in principle that more ODA resources would be allocated to the improvement of infrastructure in the Hòa Lạc High-tech Park.

The Ministry of Planning and Investment will be responsible for coordinating with the Ministry of Finance to arrange investment capital to the project and report to the PM for approval.

Established in 1998, the park has a total area of nearly 1,600 hectares. It is now one of the most attractive investment destinations in Việt Nam.

The Hòa Lạc Hi-tech Park is built as the national model center on development, research and hi-tech applications where hi-tech business incubation, human resource training, product manufacturing and commercialization activities take place, according to its website.

The high and priority technologies in the Park are information and communication technology and software technology; bio-technology for Agriculture, aquiculture and health; microelectronics technology, precision machinery, optoelectronics and automation technology, new material technology, nano-technology; environmental friendly technology, new energy technology…and some other special technologies, the website said.

Hòa Lạc High-tech Park has so far lured some 52 investment projects with a combined capital of some US $1.3 billion. A number of other investment projects are under administrative processing, according to the Park’s Management Board.

This year, the Park expects to attract 12-15 projects worth of around US $1 billion.
