ICT firms plan Hoa Lac Hi-Tech Park
HA NOI — The country’s two major information and communication technology companies announced last Friday their plan to invest in Hoa Lac High Tech Park in the northern province of Ha Tay.
The Corporation for Financing and Promoting Technology (FPT), last Friday, inked a deal with the Ministry of Post and Telematics to build a software park in the Hoa Lac High Tech Park.
The VND168billion (US$10.5million) park will be initially located on a 6-ha area for the first phase of the project, which will become the company’s centre for researching and manufacturing computer software for export.
It is expected that the park construction will be completed in two years, and the facility will create jobs for about 1,000 computer programmers.
Meanwhile, the Ha Noi Telecommunications Joint-stock Company (Hanoi Telecom) will also build a $20 million telecom and IT complex in the Park.
Under an agreement signed between Hanoi Telecom and the zone’s authorities last Friday, the complex will be constructed on an area of 35ha during the first phase of the project.
The complex, called the International NG-ICT Technology Centre, will have 10 sections specialising in the research, development and production of telecom and IT products.
With a satellite signal receiver, the complex will also provide Internet and telecom services for the Hoa Lac Hi-Tech Park, including the CDMA 2000 3G (Code Division Multiple Access) mobile phone network.
The complex is expected to be operational by the second quarter of 2006.
According to Deputy Minister of Science and Technology Bui Manh Hai, the two projects will contribute to encouraging enterprises to invest in Hoalac Hi-tech Park.
