Region-based monthly minimum wages to increase 5.3% by 2019

The National Wage Council agreed on the proposal on a 5.3% rise of the region-based monthly minimum wages by 2019, following the approval of all 15 members.

The third session of the National Wage Council was organized on August 13 to decide on the adjustment to region-based monthly minimum wages by 2019. 

Accordingly, the region-based monthly minimum wages by 2019 will increase by 5.3% against in 2018. 

The region-based monthly minimum wages rose by 6.5% and 7.3% in 2018 and 2017, respectively. 

The region-based monthly minimum wages were increased by between VND 180,000-230,000 from January 1, 2018, according to the Government's Decree No. 141/2017/ND-CP.

The region-based minimum wage levels are applied to enterprises, cooperatives, household businesses, foreign companies and international organizations operating in Viet Nam.

Under this Decree, from January 1, 2018, the region – based minimum wage levels applicable to laborers working under contracts are increased as follows: Region I: VND3,9800,000 per month, Region II: VND3,530,000 per month, Region III: VND3,090,000 per month and Region IV: 2,760,000 per month.
